Anxiety Has No Place In Me!

Anxiety Has No Place In Me!

As the days seem to pass us by during COVID it seems like we are all trying to adjust to the new “normal”. But what does that encompass? Struggling to get out of bed? Days where you don’t want to get dressed? Sadness? Anger? Anxiety?

Now sure there are some positives to this global pandemic, like more family time and being able to recharge, but let's talk about the feelings that people aren’t verbalizing. Every day is a different feeling and that is okay. There is so much going on it can be hard to try to make sense of everything. Plus stressing only causes more anxiety.

Anxiety is common and can be easily triggered. So how do we deal with it? It is important to listen to your body. If you feel like being in your pajamas all day, skipping a day or two on your workout regimen, or even eating a donut from that place you have been craving… DO IT! Putting so much pressure on yourself to be perfect is stressful and unrealistic. Nobody is perfect Qween. Unless you’re walking on water or turning water into wine give yourself a break. You and your body need it.

What about anxiety that you get when you have a busy schedule? Trying to adjust to working from home, having a child run around in the background, homeschooling, being a wife, being a mom, cooking dinner, maintaining a household… man I just got anxiety just thinking about all of that. First, let's start by giving you some props for juggling all that you are juggling right now. Second, battling anxiety might seem a little tougher in your boat in regards to finding the time to battle it. A suggestion might be to find at least one thing to do for yourself. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is just for you. This will make it easier to balance everything and add some self- care in too. Finding a balance will help to not get you stressed out.

If you are a type- A personality this global pandemic is definitely not your cup of tea. You like to be well organized and have a sense of control. Let's face it there is no really controlling a global pandemic when things are changing every day. So in ever changing times what can you take control of? Try starting Self-care Sundays and take that opportunity to set out different goals for the week. If Sundays don’t work, try every night or morning to set a new goal to accomplish. This will give you the satisfaction of control while also keeping your anxiety levels down.

Especially now, it is important to spread hope, grace, love, peace, and encouragement. Remember to be kind to yourself and we are all in this together. This too shall pass!
