It’s OK to Quarantine Your Way

The world is currently at a stand still. Between practicing quarantines and social distancing the COVID-19 pandemic has completely shifted our normalcy to a new reality - one that is causing many of us to not feel at ease. While adjusting to this period of immense uncertainty and occasional fear, we must give ourselves permission to do as we feel. When social distancing first started, social media feeds were filled with people challenging their followers to get up and become productive.

Now is the time to learn a new skill,”

Now is the time to work on your side hustle,”

Now is the time to become more knowledgeable,”

  • They all said.

Although, there is no error in taking advantage of this time to better yourself  there is fault in telling others how to live out their own. Not everyone wants to use their “free time” towards being creative and learning. And that is okay. Being that we are given the space to operate at our own pace means we should make use of just that and reset how we approach creating a lifestyle for ourselves and not the images of what a fulfilling life is supposed to look like.

During these past few weeks, if you have ever felt discouraged from being productive then listen to that feeling. Honor it by understanding the why and learn how to navigate through it all. After all, surviving a pandemic is a new experience for us all. There is no template to show us how to make use of this time. And there is no right or wrong way in figuring it out.
